IKARUS DOWN, I’M NOT A PILOT, DANIEL BERES & KLASSIK TONIGHT AT THE MIRAMAR THEATRE

The Miramar Theatre hosts tons of great touring acts from all over the country most nights of the week. Their all ages policy for most shows makes it easy for the younger population to enjoy live music too, which is amazing. Tonight, they’ll be hosting some of Milwaukee’s best for a special event, involving music and video.

Daniel Beres, a local pop musician, will be shooting his upcoming solo music video during his performance. Dan was the lead guitarist of Truth in Fiction, a band that found success touring with Fall Out Boy, Sugarcult and other national acts as well as playing for the 2004 Vans Warped Tour. Dan’s solo performances showcase his amazing voice, excellent guitar skills and stage presence. Truly a performer at heart, Dan brings his charming personality to the stage, joking around with the audience, genuinely at ease in the spotlight. It’s easy to see that he’s having fun and is eager to make his fans have just as good of a time as he does. Look for a Local Playlist interview with Dan after tonight’s show coming soon and stay tuned to his Facebook fan page for show dates, videos and much more!

Also performing tonight is Klassik, a solo hip hop & jazz artist from Milwaukee. A graduate of Milwaukee High School of the Arts, Klassik spent 10 years studying jazz. This carries over into his unique sound, this brand of hip hop is a bit more well-bred and technically complicated than most. Check out Klassik’s Bandcamp page to download some of his music to get you pumped up for the show tonight. Klassik’s performance should blend well with I’m Not A Pilot, also performing tonight.

I’m Not A Pilot is one of Milwaukee’s most popular bands, known around town for their classically-infused pop-rock sound. It’s unique to find a rock band that has no guitars but the strings sound is more than filled out by Peter Thomas’ electric cello. A classically trained musician whose day job is performing with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, watching Peter play is an experience you will not forget. Lead singer Mark Glatzel’s pure vocals and deft piano playing convey such emotion that you can’t help but be moved when listening. They are backed by Adrian Esguerra on bass, whose intelligence and dry humor carry over into his stage presence and Steve Vorass Jr. on drums, whose impeccable timing determines the pace of the rhythm section. Don’t miss out on seeing this talented group of musicians and keep an eye on their website for upcoming shows and music!

Ikarus Down recently released their first full-length album, “Friction”, and have been playing lots of shows recently to show off their hard work (check out my review of the album). Songs from “Friction” have recently been played on Radio Milwaukee, 102.1, Kiss FM and WMSE, an indication of how great this album really is. Comprised of lead singer & rhythm guitarist Jon Ferrer, lead guitarist Ryan Gardiner, bassist Patrick Masimore, drummer Daniel Langkammer and keyboard player Nick Brenneman, Ikarus Down has a progressive, alternative rock sound that has something for every musical taste. Whether you like classic rock, alternative, pop-rock, punk, folk or instrumental jams, their music contains elements of all of these. Check out Ikarusdown.com for their summer calendar as well as catch them headlining the Cascio Stage at Summerfest Friday July 6th at 9pm!

So come on down to the Miramar Theatre tonight to check out this compilation of great musical acts, doors open at 7:30 pm. Hope to see you all there and maybe even afterwards at Oakland Gyros for a late night snack!
