MAIDEN ENGLAND WORLD TOUR
Iron Maiden & Alice Cooper Coming to Summerfest Wednesday, July 4th!
Summerfest’s Amphitheater attractions have always featured a strong dose of classic rock over the last decade, but seemed to leave out metal, favoring country superstars, pop icons and indie fads. A mark of the times I guess, as metal continues to carve a smaller niche each year in most cities, but on July 4th we can see metal and classic rock all at once when Iron Maiden & Alice Cooper come through Summerfest. Granted, the definition of heavy metal has changed so much over the years that one doesn’t really know whether to classify it with the clothing the band wears, the name of the band, or the music itself anymore. One thing is for certain, that Iron Maiden fits all three categories beautifully, and there would be no modern “heavy metal” without them…or Alice Cooper!
Iron Maiden has been around almost as long as Summerfest has been running, has pressed 36 albums, and continues to be an international superpower, respected by metal fans and musicians of new and old. Their icon “Eddie” is an integral part of their identity and the basis for their theatrical live show. Alice Cooper, the father of “shock rock” continues to tour, host a syndicated radio show, and golf better than most CEOs. This tour features guitarist Orianthi, who is best known as the lead guitarist for Michael Jackson’s “This is It” concert series, and bassist Chuck Garric, who just produced a single for Milwaukee’s very own Jimmy at the Prom. There will be something for every rock fan on July 4th…nostalgic stage antics and wild theatrics including fake blood, guillotines, and two-story frankensteins…oh, and great rock and roll music as well!
